The rules are pretty simple, one needs to come up with songs for various situations that would sound apt if those situations were to happen in your life.
I have done some home work, and went ahead and linked the youtube videos to each of the songs, I know many of the kannada/hindi songs you might have not heard or may not appreciate..but I just love them, just the way they are :)

Waking up:

I dont know which movie but
subah subah jab khdiki khole,
baajoo vaali ladki haaye,
dil mera bole hello how are you…

ha ha .. wouldn’t that be fun?

Average day:

Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya”

First date:

Woh shaam kuch ajeeb thi”

Falling in love:

Rimjim gire sawan

“Kiss Me - Sixpence none the richer”

Fight Scene:

This is a great kannada song, anybody want translation please contact me :)
“bisi bisi kajjaya”

My blogger friend Nita who blogs wonderful over at “A wide angle view of India” tagged me here, with the song that inspires you tag.The tag goes like this…
Think of THE song that most inspires you to write, whether it gives you an idea for a story, script or just puts you into a better frame of mind AND/OR peek into the lyrics and find a verse that sums up the theme of whatever project it is you’re working on. If possible, post a video of the song to convey to readers the full context of the song and the mood it puts you into. Finally, send the assignment to five other writers to do as well.
As she said in her post, choosing one song is so very difficult, over the years I have heard so many songs, in so many different languages, some have really stayed back on my mind, made me think, and many even debate, but If I have to choose one it has to be this one

Tujhze naraz nahi zindagi” from the movie Masoom,

It has everything I like, innocence, great lyrics, kids and a beautiful sentiment, deep relations what else I would want to inspire.?

I tag priya, Chennai ramblings and pri.

Friends Flasback

I was over at a blog of a new blogger friend “gooddaysunshine” , and her post on the sitcom friends got me all charged up about the friends moments which I have enjoyed a lot, and here’s one from that treasure

Just watch Joey’s expression at the end..hilarious..makes me want to see an episode right now :)

Anuranan - A movie review

I got to watch a movie called Anuranan [A Resonance] on sunday. Its a bengali movie, dubbed into hindi, it has Rahul Bose, Rituparna sengupta, Raima sen, and Rajat kapoor in the lead. If you are wondering why bangla movie, well I had seen the promo of the movie some time back on TV, since then was trying to watch it, and if you are reading my blog for some time you would know what kind of movies I generally like.

Its a story about an Indian architect working in London [Rahul Bose], he lives with his wife[Rituparna sengupta], and is leading a happy life with a successful carrier, they enjoy a very good relationship but their only problem is that their child would have died and they seem to be failing to conceive ever since.

*sounds like a same old story right*

Rahul’s firm bags a big project at the foothills of Himalayas, and Rahul meets a marketing guy [Rajat kapoor] associated with the project, they bond a little in London, and because of the project Rahul gets transferred back to Kolkatta. Back In India Rahul starts his work, and his wife joins a Montessori as a teacher. The couple meet Rajat kapoor and his wife [Raima sen] at a party, and the families interact with each other. The other couple seem to be unhappy with each other and Raima likes the free spirited Rahul bose.

*sounds like the ever popular extra martial affair movie*

Well here’s the change, and why I liked the movie, the movie has nothing to do with affairs, its just the unnamed bonding between Raima and Rahul, and how she tries to free herself from the clutches of her life. Raima. It has a twist at the end, I don’t want to give out the ending though. Let me just say that its a little unexpected ending.

The movie is very slow to start with, and not much happening in the first 30 minutes, and it does not pick up too much pace towards the end either. Whats great about the movie, is a depiction of a highly unconventional relation, which has nothing to do with lust nor love, its just helping each other spiritually and as well as mentally, how one resonates in the presence of the other, and a simple wish of Raima to fly like a bird [totally symbolic]

Watching the movie in hindi was a little problem, as most of the dubbed dialogues looked out of place, still it was worth for the reason that it was totally on the lines of some of my earlier posts, and what I believe about relationships.

When I told one of my bangla blogger friend that I am planning to watch this movie, the person was surprised that I was interested in this movie, but I liked the confidence the person had, the person told me I am gonna like this movie, and the person was right. That was fun, I liked such confidence in friends a lot.

Movie quirks

Nita who writes at A wide angle view of India has tagged me with a movie quirks tag, being a little movie buff myself, this tag was a little tempting, so here I go, try to list some movie quirks about me.

1. My mother tells me I was a big movie buff as a kid too, there was a kannada movie called “Bhandana” which was released when I was 3 years old, and apparently I forced her to take me to the same move for more than 5 times, well it hasn’t been many movies like that which I have watched multiple times, but movie buffdom [if such word exists] did start pretty early in my case.

2. I have a weird taste when it comes to movies, generally the movies I like, are for sure box office flops. My dad has interesting theory, if I go to the theater and like a movie he says the producer should bribe me to say I hated the movie, because if I say I liked it its gonna flop for sure.

3. One exception when it comes to hit movies which I liked watching has to be the blockbuster “Hum Apke Hain Koun”, It might be too easy for people to guess that I like family oriented movies, and I just loved this movie, may be it was the age, or just watching an ideal family/romance on the big screen, I used to keep count as to how many times I have watched the movie, I gave up counting after 50.

4. I like to go for the morning show, the one at 9AM, I used to like this because not many people prefer this show, so we can get tickets easily, even in the first or second week after release. The night show is the worst, because I can’t keep myself awake. I still remember two movies, Devdas and Koi Mil Giya which I went to a movie show 9:30PM-12:30AM, and almost sleep watched the whole movie.

5. I am the worlds only pop corn hater alive I guess, I generally prefer potato chips to pop corn, and even though I like to have an occasional coke/pepsi I kind of avoid it because I hate/lazy to walk upto the loo between the movie.

6. I am not a multiplex guy, I don’t like to spend 150/200Rs on a movie ticket, may be I am stingy.. but I think its too much to pay for a movie. I have watched quite a lot of movies in recent times in multiplexes paying high ticket price mainly because all the traditional cinema houses have been demolished in recent times in Bangalore.

7. As a kid I used to like movies with sad endings, I used to always say that if a movie has a ending where both hero and the heroine die, I would rush to watch the movie. Was I a sadist?

8. I like to watch foreign language movies where I don’t understand a word, its kind of interesting to watch a movie on the basis of just body language of the actors.

9. I like to watch the movie till the credits are over, if people stand up before the credits are over, and I miss the closing songs I get pretty irritated.

10. I like animation movies a lot, I still refer to them as cartoon movies, and many of them like “Open Season”, “Ice Age”, “Lion King”, “Shrek”… you name It and I love it.

Laughter tracks

Sometimes I wonder.. how came up with the idea of laughter track. Even people who are remotely regular amongst the sitcoms would be aware of how common these laughter tracks have become.

The other day I was catching up one of the reruns of the hit series F.R.I.E.N.D.S on TV, I was just zapped when I could remember a joke so precisely that I could tell when the laughter track was about to start. We get so used to listening to these tracks, that we almost kind of make it part of the entertainment.

Somebody must have been a big believer in the fact that laughter is contagious, so apart from humor why not through in a little laughter so that people get charged up. That must have been the idea. You know sometimes it works, sometimes when I am being bored or a little low, and I sit to watch a series, and am still not in the mood for the laughter, the track kind of puts me on the track.

Sometimes the tracks make us feel utter disasters as well, mainly at our own sense of humor. There have been so many times, when I have watched a scene, and have felt the expression or dialogs or for that matter some mannerisms extremely funny, and I have burst out with a loud laugh, and then when I go silent the track sets off on the next joke, making me so conscious at my sense of humor, I have seen couple of stares from my dad, who just hears a big laugh in otherwise silent household, followed by a big background laughter coming from TV, he might be thinking I must be not understanding any of the humor.. :)

The other day, I was catching up some episodes of the old series MASH on the internet. I think its one series which I started to watch so late, it must be so old now that its outdated even in the rerun circuit, but have to admit some hilarious sitcom it is. I could not stop myself laughing in few episodes, even long after I finished watching it. One thing was that many episodes in the first season did not have laughter tracks. For few episodes, I kind of missed the track, it was like my cue was missing.. or a feel that I was watching a soap but not a sitcom. Again so used to the track. I got used to its absence after few episodes.

It made me wonder what if we could some day give the laughter tracks to our blogs, wouldn’t that be fun, you kind of start reading a post, just when there is something funny, you hear laughter as the background music.. hehhe that would be fun. WordPress people, you listening??

Imagination can be wilder, what if our life had the laughter track. Amidst a conversation, when you make some hilarious joke and no one gets it, then you kind of wish that people should have had a cue :).. wouldn’t that be fun, kinda telling people “Guys, this is the end of my joke, start laughing”. ah Fun!.

On a slightly serious note, think about this one.
When you are low and depressed, kind of lost hope in life, and you here a laughter track, kind of a cue from him up above, saying, common, now is the time for you to laugh and cheer up.

song on my mind..

I was listening to this amazing song from the movie Dor, it feels good to listen to such good lyrics.

Yeh Hosla Kaise Juke
Yeh Aarzoo Kaise Ruke - 2

Manzil Muskil to kya,
Bundla Sahil to kya,
Tanha Ye Dil to Kya
Ho Hooo

Raah Pe Kante Bikhre agar,
Uspe to phir bhi chalna hi hai,
Saam Chhupale Suraj magar,
Raat ko ek din Dhalana hi hai,

Rut ye tal jayegi,
Himmat rang layegi,
Subha phir aayegi
Hoooo

Yeh Hosla Kaise Juke,
Yeh Aarzoo Kaise Ruke - 2

a little translation for of the above meaningful lyrics

How will this courage be lost
How will this longing be suppressed

So what if the goal is difficult?
So what if the horizon is unclear?
So what if the heart is lonely?

Even if my path is ladened with thorns, I must walk.
Even if the evening hides the sun,
The night must concede to the dawn.

The season will end
Fortitude with bring colour
The morning will come again

How will this courage be lost
How will this longing be suppressed

If you want to hear the song here it is..

A lyrical gem

nainon ki mat maaniyo re
nainon ki mat suniyo
nainon ki mat maaniyo re
nainon ki mat suniyo
nainon ki mat suniyo re
naina thag lenge - 2 thag lenge naina thag lenge
naina thag lenge thag lenge naina thag lenge
jagte jaadu phukenge re jagte jagte jaadu
jagte jaadu phukenge re neenden banjar kar denge
naina thag lenge - 2 thag lenge naina thag lenge
naina thag lenge thag lenge naina thag lenge
nainon ki mat maaniyo re

I have not posted anything about my love for good lyrics for quite some time now, so here it is, one song which really caught my ear over the weekend. Here is a small translation effort.

Don’t give in to what your eyes say,
Don’t listen to your eyes

Don’t give in to what your eyes say,
Don’t listen to your eyes

Don’t listen to your eyes, please

Eyes will deceive, will surely deceive you
Surely will, surely deceive you

Will poof magic into your eyes. magic when you are awake
Magic into your eyes, rendering you sleepless,

Eyes will deceive, will surely deceive you
Surely will, surely deceive you

Don’t give in to what your eyes say,

Reality and Happiness

I saw a movie on Sunday night, it was called “Dil Dosti Etc”, apt title, an Okey movie, nothing great, but now sure what made me take this from the movie. I finished the movie, and I was left with the topic of reality and happiness in my mind.

I am kind of getting lost when it comes to reality, is it that people find too much reality in fake world?, or too much obsessed with reality makes them see everything as fake in real world?. When people believe in something its so much real to them, the concept of good or bad does not apply to them, they just know its real. When people believe in something so much, when they see something other than what they believe, it looks so fake to them. Here comes the problem, with time when their belief changes, suddenly, something things which were real for such a long time becomes fake,

I have written in the past as how I have problems with forgiving and forgetting, sometimes I feel the others were at fault, for pushing me into a situation where I dont believe them, or the incident and find it really hard to forgive them.
Sometimes I feel its so much fake in there, I don’t want to remember that at all, making it more clearly etched in my mind.

I guess there are three kinds of people,
People who are always happy, still they know deep down that the moment they give a slip to their mind about sadness, they will end up realizing reality and the sadness with it.
People who are always sad, hoping that this would be totally risk free, making sure that they cannot get any more sad, only way from there is happiness.
People who don’t care if they are happy or sad, they don’t care about how they feel, they just react to life.

If you have seen the movie, and wonder where I got this from the movie, I am not sure myself. may be thats what the three girls symbolized to me,
one who was happy enough and always tried to forget her sadness.
one who acted sad just to hide how happy she was with what she got in the end,
the third one just reacted.

Reality as the two guys saw it. one who thought the world was fake, and he was trying to see
reality in what happens,
the other thought world was real, and finally gets disillusioned with fakeness.

Or may be it was just the parallel drama that was unfolding in ramblers mind as watched the movie …

She is back.

For all Madhuri Dixit fans

Girls on screen

Everyone has a little bit of celebrity crush. I would say more than the celebrity I seem to end up liking the character more, I think most of people do the same. I kind of assume they take their qualities off screen too. Stupid but true.

She’s Hillary Burton.

Plays Peyton Saywer on One Tree Hill
I think I would have liked this person even if the series would have been a radio show.
As my friend S puts it, my “perfect woman“, her character has almost all the things I would look for in my “Perfect woman
She is extremely vulnerable, soft spoken, in fact less spoken, highly emotional, but still strong to outside world, has a lot of passion in whatever she does, and she is amazingly talented and imaginative.
Is she not perfect?.
But one problem though, she is not real.

She is Deepali,
She is a contestant in Indian Idol
[For people who don't know, Indian version of hit American series].
She is a little close to real, then Peyton, as she is on a reality show.
Still not sure if she is what I perceive her to be.
She is amazingly simple. She has a very good voice,
More than that, the selection of her songs are amazing. Almost what I would have chosen.
She too gives more importance to lyrics.
When ever behind the scenes has been shown, she is always dressed in pastels.
When she speaks, you can see a right mixture of confidence, insecurity, fear, vulnerability and wildness inside her.
She never comes up with excuses, loved this part of her.

She is Cobie Smulders.
She plays Robin in the comedy “How I met your mother”.
The character of Robin is someone totally opposite to what I like.
She emotes fake emotions,
She hates commitment,
She is in a relationship for all wrong reasons
She has not much regards to feelings.
She wears really bright colors.
Now, who ever came up with theory “Opposites attract”
after Robin, I tend to agree :)
